TurfNet
Job Description
Founded in 1924 and set on 100 acres in Greenwich, CT, Round Hill Club is one of the few remaining Walter Travis designs in the country. We are partnering with architect
Andrew Green
to restore and revitalize Travis’s original intent—embracing dramatic landforms, strategic bunkering, and classic Golden Age principles. The proposed renovation is targeted to begin August 2027 and will include new bunkers, tees, fairway and green expansions, and new irrigation laterals.
This position is designed as a springboard for the candidate to their first Superintendent job. The position will receive hands‑on project ownership, visible leadership opportunities, and structured professional development that will read exceptionally well to hiring committees. Active mentorship will sharpen your interview materials, and expand your network so that your time at Round Hill Club becomes the strongest chapter on your resume.
Reporting to the Superintendent, you will help lead daily operations and key initiatives:
Plan and execute daily maintenance: mowing, irrigation, chemical/fertilizer applications, and cultural practices.
Supervise, train, and inspire a seasonal and full‑time team; reinforce safety and efficiency.
Operate and help maintain turf equipment and irrigation systems; assist with setup/diagnostics.
Monitor turf performance (moisture, disease, traffic/wear) and recommend data‑driven adjustments.
Support budgeting, record‑keeping, and inventory management with discipline and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Communicate across departments and model a positive, team‑first culture.
Be directly involved in planning and executing the Andrew Green Master Plan.
Uphold and improve our budget management systems and protocols.
