Locations The Data Center Mechanical Design Engineer will develop and manage the design and controls of cooling components and related systems for complex data centers. The incumbent will analyze the energy performance of each project and coordinate and support the commissioning process. Specific responsibilities shall include working with limited supervision in corporate, remote, and home offices as well as project site locations. The Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player who possesses and demonstrates effective communication and broad client service skills. As experience is further developed in the overall design and construction of data centers, the Engineer’s skills will be further utilized as a Subject Matter Expert across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
Understand mission critical construction industry protocols and troubleshooting support
Confer with engineers and design staff to interpret design concepts
Review all applicable documentation to determine designs
Perform calculations in preparation for designing products
Review documents, quotes, and drawings to create electrical and cooling designs
Revise drawings and designs based on change orders and client needs/requests
Prepare product reports by collecting and analyzing information
Provide mechanical engineering information by answering questions and requests
Evaluate systems, products, components, and applications
Develop products by studying customer requirements
Create conceptual designs from information gathered at client meetings
Oversee commissioning process, as needed
While the position is located in the Dallas, Texas market, travel to customer sites across the US may be required
Requirements
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred
PE certification required
CEM, LEED certification is a plus
Design documentation experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products
Experience with cooling systems and controls
Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD MEP, Procore
Knowledge of mechanical systems, emphasis on cooling and design
Possess an understanding of drawing and modeling organization
6+ years in design, project planning, construction and commissioning
Knowledge of design process and building for mission critical/data center projects
