Position Summary The Community Market Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to‑day operations of the Amazon x Bayview YMCA Free Community Market. This includes coordinating grocery orders, stocking, client intake, and ensuring the market runs smoothly in alignment with community needs. The role involves direct interaction with school staff, families, and community members, and requires a commitment to equity, inclusion, and responsive service.

Market Operations

Order groceries and manage inventory

Stock shelves and maintain store cleanliness

Carry and stock grocery items (up to 25 lbs)

Client & Community Engagement

Conduct new client intakes

Communicate regularly with families

Provide translation support as needed

Attend school support meetings to align services with community needs

Program Support & Administration

Log and report market visits and usage

Participate in team meetings and trainings

Collaborate with school leadership and YMCA staff

Communication

Clear verbal and written communication

Ability to communicate respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Able to work independently and within a team setting

Interpersonal & Cultural Competency

Demonstrates empathy, patience, and cultural awareness

Committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience in educational, community‑based, or youth‑serving environments

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work with diverse populations, including youth and families

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or relevant coursework (e.g., education, social work, public health)

Experience in program coordination or food distribution

Familiarity with basic technology (email, spreadsheets)

Understanding of trauma‑informed or equity‑centered practices

Work Environment & Physical Demands

School‑based setting with regular interaction with students, families, and staff

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Requires standing, walking, and stocking shelves during market hours
