HDR Engineering is seeking a Data Center Substation Engineering Manager (EM) to join our growing Power Delivery team.
Primary Responsibilities
As an EM, you will leverage your technical expertise in high voltage substation design and construction to lead projects, guide teams, and advise clients. You will develop a partnership with the Project Manager (PM), focusing on the technical execution of projects.
Your role includes:
Partnering with the PM on scope, schedule, and budget while leading the technical team.
Developing and implementing project execution plans.
Assigning tasks and providing technical guidance.
Supporting scope, schedule, and budget management, including proposals and risk assessments.
Mentoring project engineers, EITs, and designers.
Performing quality checks to ensure deliverables meet HDR standards.
Managing multiple projects across different locations.
Collaborating with senior engineers to develop technical expertise.
Contributing to technical papers and industry presentations.
Participating in project reviews.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with an engineering consulting firm.
At least 8 years of design experience in high voltage substations up to 500kV, including knowledge of relevant standards.
Experience with substations from 12kV to 500kV; experience up to 765kV is a plus.
Proven ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and conferencing tools.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
Experience in project execution within the Power Sector.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and power sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD).
