Overview Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. The Sr. Manager's responsibilities will include defining and implementing the strategic vision for their value stream to achieve scale and overseeing the daily operations of the value stream. Safety and product quality are paramount. The Sr. Manager and their team will work closely with development engineering for manufacturing process definitions and will leverage our teams in procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain to enable high-volume production throughput. The role is based in Redmond, WA.
Responsibilities Manufacturing & Environmental Test Operations and scale satellite manufacturing operations, including assembly, integration, and test activities
Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to meet production targets and quality standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce cycle time
Establish and maintain manufacturing metrics, KPIs, and reporting systems
Oversee factory layout, workflow optimization, and capacity planning
Direct environmental test operations including thermal vacuum, vibration, and acoustic testing
Manage test facility operations, maintenance, and capability expansion
Ensure compliance with test specifications and quality requirements
Drive test schedule optimization and resource allocation
Oversee test data collection, analysis, and reporting systems
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or related discipline (Master's preferred)
8+ years of progressive manufacturing operations experience, including 5+ years in space/aerospace hardware production
5+ years of people leadership experience managing large, complex teams (50+ employees) across multiple shifts and disciplines
Demonstrated track record of leading strategic manufacturing initiatives with P&L responsibility
Experience scaling operations from low to high volume production
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Administration; experience with satellite production and testing in New Space companies
Strong background in lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies
Experience with automated manufacturing systems and Industry technologies
Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements
Proven ability to drive innovation in manufacturing processes and test methodologies
Experience with optics manufacturing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
