Overview Processing Technician – Electrical Test, Project Kuiper at Amazon. Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, serving a wide range of customers from individuals to organizations in locations without reliable connectivity. Responsibilities Adhere to safety requirements, standards and procedures in all work locations. Final assembly and test of the Kuiper satellites using various ground systems in a clean-room and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment. Verify satellite health using computer-controlled equipment to command and monitor satellite telemetry. Execute work assigned individually and/or with the team to meet production schedule. Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers. Use electrical test equipment tools – multi-meters, breakout boxes, and harnesses. Perform overhead crane lift operations and use pallet jacks and forklifts for hardware movement. Perform work according to engineering drawings and technical work instructions. Check and inspect work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements. Collaborate with leads, peers, and engineers to improve processes and activities. Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment. Able to obtain and maintain licenses, and/or certifications as required by job responsibilities (e.g., forklift, crane, electrical). Mentor new and junior team members, as needed. Willing to work overtime and weekends as required. Shift schedule is nominally 5 days/week, 8 hours/day but may vary depending on production/launch schedules. Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, domestically or internationally as business needs demand. A day in the life: meet with team leads to understand objectives, process satellites with ground support equipment per work instructions, document completed work, report non-conformances, and perform maintenance on ground and facility systems. Qualifications Basic Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. 3+ years in spaceflight hardware testing and assembly. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport and meet customs entry requirements, including immunization prerequisites as recommended by the CDC. Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background check. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a team or task lead. Experience working with electrically energized systems. Experience in a fast-paced processing environment. Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and in a clean room. Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications). Ability to read/understand technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures. Additional Requirements Able to stand/walk for long periods of time. Able to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position. Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted.
