Processing Technician I – Satellite Processing (2nd Shift), Project Kuiper
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
The processing technician will work as part of a team for receiving the hardware, processing satellites into the cleanroom, supporting electrical test validation and battery charging, and other movements of the spacecraft through the launch operations workspace. The satellite operations consist of using tools and equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts. The electrical test consists of operating a power supply system and requesting/reviewing data from the spacecraft. This individual will be mentored and work closely with peers, lead engineers, and other cross‑functional organizations. This role is for 2nd shift but upon hiring/onboarding the candidate will work 1st shift to train and onboard before transitioning to 2nd shift.
The ideal candidate is new to the industry and willing to learn space products and how to handle hardware, be comfortable in a highly technical, fast‑paced, and collaborative setting, is able to follow technical work instructions and team lead/peer/engineer direction, and support the team through processing operations.
Key job responsibilities
Adhere to safety requirements, standards, procedures, and supervisor direction in all work locations.
Learn and support operations to receive and test the Kuiper satellites using various mechanical and electrical ground systems in a clean‑room while adhering to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment.
Perform work according to engineering drawings and technical work instructions and under the guidance of supervisor or mentor.
Check and inspect work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements.
Obtain and maintain licenses, and/or certifications as required by job responsibilities (i.e., forklift, crane, electrical).
Support team to set up hardware for operations.
Support test operations with engineer or team member to verify satellite health using computer‑controlled equipment to command and monitor satellite telemetry.
Learn the operation processes of receiving satellites using forklift, crane, or other machines to receive hardware.
Provide support to team during overhead crane lift operations and spotting during hardware movements.
Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers, harnesses.
Use electrical test equipment tools – multimeters, breakout boxes, harness routings, and connector mates/demates.
Use machines such as forklift, crane, and pallet jacks.
Execute work assigned with the team to meet production schedule.
Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment.
Shift schedule is nominally 5 days/week, 8 hours/day but may vary depending on production/launch schedules.
Willing to work overtime and weekends as required. Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, either domestically or internationally as business needs demand.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
0–1+ years of experience using mechanical tools or machining equipment.
0–1+ years of experience using electrical or testing tools.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
Able to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch may be required to perform the functions of this position.
Able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted.
Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport & meet customs entry requirements, including but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience 1+ years in the aviation or aerospace industry AIT (assembly, integration, test).
Experience in a fast‑paced processing environment.
Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD‑sensitive hardware, and in a clean‑room.
Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications).
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $52,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $57,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
