We are a leading automotive technology company recruiting a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Palo Alto team for an initial 6‑month contract with the potential for full‑time conversion.
Base Pay Range $73.00/hr - $95.00/hr
Job Title Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Vehicle Access
Location Palo Alto, CA
Work Hours Monday‑Friday, first shift
Description An American electric vehicle manufacturing company seeks a detail‑oriented engineer focused on the software stack for design verification of PCBAs & ECUs in current and next‑gen vehicle platforms, primarily within the Connectivity & Vehicle Access Segment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with hardware and software architects on next‑gen platform architecture and software stack across various SoCs.
Design, develop, and deploy embedded software on Linux and/or RTOS for board bring‑up, verification, and debugging of automotive electronics.
Work with multiple disciplines to deliver high‑quality code, debug complex problems, prioritize, and meet deadlines with high efficiency.
Debug in real‑time across the software and hardware stack, providing solutions with cross‑team collaboration.
Develop and maintain Linux build systems, device trees, and kernel driver development.
Communicate effectively with peers, stakeholders, customers, technical leaders, and OEMs/ODMs.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of embedded software development experience.
Experience with automotive infotainment/connectivity platforms, preferably with GNSS, UWB, RF, A2B, BT Audio.
Strong coding skills in C/C++.
Solid understanding of Linux/RTOS fundamentals, board support packages, kernel configuration, device‑driver interfaces, and debugging tools.
Excellent debugging skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
Experience with Lauterbach, oscilloscope, JTAG, flashing tools, etc.
