Position Details
Classification Title: Biology Instructor Pool-Part-Time (Anatomy & Physiology)
Department: CC Science, Engineering, and Math
Location: Cypress College
Frequency: Part-Time (temporary faculty assignments as needed)
Salary: $1391.74 – $1527.30 per lecture unit rate (or lab parity unit rate), $1113.42 – $1221.77 per lab unit rate, depending on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Teach courses in Anatomy & Physiology, e.g., Biology 210 – Anatomy & Physiology, Biology 231 – General Human Anatomy, Biology 241 – General Human Physiology.
Coordinate with full-time and adjunct faculty to maintain curricular currency.
Support diverse student populations, including historically underrepresented and marginalized groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in any biological science
OR
Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
OR
Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
OR
Equivalent qualifications as determined by the District Equivalency Committee
Evidence of degree on a legible transcript
Desirable Qualifications
Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in biology, addressing equity gaps within racially minoritized groups
Experience coordinating and maintaining curriculum responsive to diverse student needs
Demonstrated success in supporting students from marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with disabilities
