Description
The Board shall regulate the practice of advanced practice registered nursing, practice of registered nursing, practice of practical nursing, practice by nursing assistive personnel, practice of nursing home administration, practice of assisted living administration, and practice of home health care administration.
The Board shall recommend for promulgation by the Mayor curricula and standards required for the approval of nursing education programs in the District of Columbia. At a minimum, the Board shall require that nursing schools and nursing programs be accredited by a Board-recognized national nursing accrediting agency. The Board shall also recommend to the Mayor rules governing the procedures for withdrawing approval of nursing education programs and training programs for nursing assistive personnel.

2 practical nurses
1 nursing home administrator, assisted living administrator, or home health care administrator
1 nursing assistive personnel
3 members licensed, registered, or certified under this Board (registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, practical nurses, or nursing assistive personnel)
2 consumer members
Qualifications
Professional members must be licensed to practice in the District.
Each professional member shall have been engaged in the practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment.
Consumer member shall be at least 18 years old, shall not be a health professional or in training to become a health professional, and shall not have a household member who is a health professional or in training.
Time Commitment
The Board meets monthly; subcommittees meet as required to complete tasks.
