Description:
The Board shall regulate the practices of professional counseling, professional art therapy, addiction counseling, dance therapy, and marriage and family therapy.
Commission Membership
1 professional counselor licensed in the District
1 professional counselor licensed in the District who is an educator engaged in teaching counseling
1 professional counselor licensed in the District with at least 3 years of experience in the field of addiction counseling
1 professional art therapist licensed in the District
1 marriage and family therapist licensed in the District
1 member licensed or certified under this Board (professional counselor, a professional art therapist, a marriage and family therapist, or an addiction counselor)
1 consumer member
Qualifications The professional members must be licensed to practice in the District. Each professional member shall have been engaged in the practice for at least 3 years preceding appointment.
The consumer member shall be at least 18 years old, shall not be a health professional or in training to become a health professional, and shall not have a household member who is a health professional or is in training to become a health professional.
Time Commitment The Board meets monthly; subcommittees meet as required to complete tasks.
