Job Description The Department of Biological Science at Rutgers University–Newark invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor appointment in the broadly defined field of cellular, molecular, and developmental biology.

The successful applicant will contribute to department research initiatives in the general areas of host–microbiome axes and/or cytoskeleton/epigenetics/developmental biology in model experimental systems.

The successful candidate will join a growing, collaborative environment with access to outstanding infrastructure support—including microscopy, genomic, metabolomic, proteomics, and animal facilities within the Rutgers–Newark and greater Rutgers research core ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Conduct and develop a research program that advances knowledge in cellular, molecular, or developmental biology, focusing on host–microbiome interactions or cytoskeleton/epigenetics.

Secure extramural funding to support future research capacity.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop teaching materials.

Mentor and advise graduate and undergraduate students.

Participate in departmental, college, and university activities.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.

Record of peer‑reviewed publications.

Strong, focused research agenda with potential for extramural funding.

Experience teaching at the university level.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Information Applicants must currently hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and are encouraged to apply even if in postdoctoral or assistant professor positions.
