The Department of Oral Biology is searching for one (1) faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the tenure track or tenured. Priority will be given to applicants with research experience in oral microbiology, host susceptibility and microbial interactions, inflammation, oral mucosal immunity, host genetics, oral cancer, craniofacial development and other areas relevant to oral and dental basic science or clinical‑translational applications. The applicant will be expected to develop collaborative and extramurally funded independent research projects at the cutting edge of oral biology that contribute to recognition of the Department’s national prominence. Candidates will be evaluated based on their basic science and/or clinical training and experience, publications, letters of recommendation, and ongoing success in obtaining research funding. Qualified candidates will have a PhD in biological sciences and/or a DMD or MD degree with advanced postgraduate research training and experience in fields related to oral biology. A track record of research support from the NIH, NSF or comparable funding sources is highly desirable and required for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The Department is an integral member of Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, providing opportunities for mentoring highly qualified MS and PhD students. Teaching in the classroom and clinic at the graduate and postgraduate levels will include basic sciences and/or clinical areas depending on the candidate’s degrees and experience. The successful candidate will join other funded PIs in a highly collaborative environment and newly renovated research labs. Salary and substantial startup support will be commensurate with experience. The position will remain open until it is filled.
