Job Summary Direct financial analysis and processes in preparation of annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, multi-year financial plans, multi-year capital plans and monthly and quarterly management reporting and analysis. Present analytics and recommendations to management to facilitate strategic financial decision making.
Job-Specific Responsibilities The FAS Office of Finance strives to ensure optimal use of resources to support the education and research missions of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The Associate Director of Budget & Analysis reports to the Assistant Dean for Budget and Financial Planning and is responsible for a highly complex portfolio of academic and administrative departments. This position will play a significant role in analyzing various financial and budgetary issues, evaluating budget requests, identifying opportunities for cost savings/revenue enhancements, and making recommendations to FAS senior management.
Specifically, the Associate Director will work together with the Assistant Dean to plan, communicate, and implement processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring across the academic divisions. The Associate Director will also serve as a key member of the budget team in developing the FAS Consolidated Budget. In addition, the Associate Director will serve as a liaison between the FAS Office of Finance and the administrative leadership of the academic divisions to identify and develop structures for enhanced division-level planning, communication, and managerial reporting. The Associate Director will oversee a team of financial consultants who provide dedicated support to each divisional unit. As a team, the Associate Director and the divisional consultants will provide financial and technical assistance to academic and administrative departments on all types of financial issues. Various ad‑hoc and special projects will also be carried out as assigned by the Assistant Dean.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting.
Work Format Hybrid office environment; this position will be based in Cambridge, MA, and there is an expectation of one workday per week (Monday) on campus. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States.
Basic Qualifications
MBA, Master's degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience
Supervisory experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis and financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles
Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data query tools

Standard Hours/Schedule:
35 hours per week
Compensation Range/Rate:
Compensation will vary based on the position and the candidate's relevant experience.
