Position Summary
The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence and the Department of Pharmacology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine invite applications for an academic faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Interested candidates should have an active and significant extramurally funded program and a vision for collaborative research projects related to cardiovascular research and teaching ability. Reporting to the Director of the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, this faculty position will be a member of the Cardiovascular Center working collaboratively with the Center’s faculty, fellow departments, and all faculty members to support and advance the strategic goals of the University, School and Center. The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence seeks applications from distinguished academicians with proven scientific, strategic and collaborative leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Sustain an exceptional research program related to cardiovascular research.
Mentor graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.
Participate in broad health sciences teaching activities of the Center.
Lead and promote innovative research programs aligned with the mission of the School of Medicine.
Secure and manage significant extramural grant funding.
Qualifications
Established a nationally reputable, well-funded research program with a track record of high-impact publications.
International reputation and track record of success in cellular and molecular medicine or related cardiovascular research.
Record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as Associate Professor or Professor.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in academics, including medical, graduate, and post-graduate education.
Proven mentoring of trainees and junior faculty.
Leadership ability for the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, promoting innovative research aligned with the mission of the School of Medicine.
Ability to secure significant extramural grant funding and develop the Center as a leading research unit.
