Job Description Job Summary
Job Summary Full Time: Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm
The insurance verification specialist ensures that patients’ health care benefits cover required procedures. They contact a patient’s insurance company to verify coverage levels and work with individuals to educate them on their benefits information. This is an in-office, full-time days position.
Administrative
Verify insurance information for new patients and referrals
Handle payments for services not covered by insurance
Update insurance information for existing patients
Call to obtain pre-authorization for recommended services and procedures
Explain to patients what their financial responsibilities will be
Inform relevant clinical staff about denials
Answer questions related to billing and insurance
Fill our documentation required for billing
Legal
Maintains confidentiality and documents accurately
Uses appropriate guidelines for releasing patient information
Practices within the scope of education, training and personal capabilities
Maintains awareness of federal and state health care legislation and regulations; OSHA, HIPPA, and CLIA
Communication
Recognizes and respects cultural diversity
Adapts communication to individuals ability to understand
Uses medical terminology appropriately
Treats all patients with compassion, empathy, and mutual respect
Works as a team player
Treats all staff in a professional and respectful manner
Projects a professional manner and image
