Transportation Manager – South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to oversee our fleet and staff. The role involves recruiting and training drivers, scheduling routes, maintaining compliance, and ensuring safe, efficient transportation for students.

Core Responsibilities

Recruit and train bus drivers.

Plan, schedule, and dispatch school bus routes for safe transport of students to and from school, field trips, etc.

Schedule, request, and coordinate maintenance and reconditioning of all bus transport vehicles, including ordering replacement parts to ensure vehicles are available.

Maintain compliance of fleet in accordance with the Head Start act and other program regulations.

Maintain records and complete necessary forms for reporting mileage and student data for reimbursement of transportation costs.

Supervise and evaluate school bus drivers and transportation staff, providing leadership as needed.

Implement the DOT drug and screening program, including all federal motor carrier aspects, tracking physicals, reporting on the FMSCA, and sending employees to testing sites.

Maintain attendance records.

Provide CPR, First Aid, and other mandatory training.

Qualifications

AA/AS in business management required, or BA/BS or a related field preferred; 5‑7 years supervisory experience may substitute for a degree.

Director II early childhood certification and experience preferred but not required.

Pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening and random testing required throughout employment.

Successful background in supervising team members.

CDL license with School Bus Driver and Passenger endorsement.

First Aid/CPR trainer preferred; must attend required onsite and community meetings.

Bi‑lingual (Portuguese, Arabic or Spanish) preferred but not required.

Current medical certificate, current MMR documentation, current TB test, statements of CORI/DCF background check, and fingerprinting, and an employment application completed prior to beginning employment.

Minimum requirements: 18+ years old, able to speak and understand English, possess CDL license with School Bus Driver and Passenger endorsement.

References required upon hire.
