Manager, Proactive Trust & Safety Operations
Snap Inc is a technology company that leverages camera technology to enhance communication and improve lives. Our three core products are Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles. The Trust & Safety (T&S) Team protects users from content that violates our terms of service or Community Guidelines, embodying our values of Kind, Smart, and Creative. We take great pride in our role as digital first responders.
We’re looking for a Manager to join Snap’s growing Proactive Trust & Safety Operations team. This role oversees components of Snap’s proactive harm and abuse detection framework, collaborating with Policy, Product, and Engineering teams to build and improve processes, and delivering a hands‑on, innovative approach to keeping Snapchatters safe.
What you’ll do:
Act as the primary subject‑matter expert and accountable leader for elements of Snap’s proactive detection system
Recommend and implement optimizations to tools and processes, driving solutions across the organization
Collaborate closely with other detection team members to ensure seamless coordination and parity across systems
Manage detection operations against quality targets in a fast‑paced environment
Handle detection‑related escalations: triage, prioritize, communicate with stakeholders, and develop responsive plans
Oversee vendor‑supported labeling work, providing guidance and feedback for optimal outcomes
Track detection metrics, identify opportunities, and measure impact of the team’s work
Analyze user trends and malicious behavior, guiding responsive changes with the team
Own cross‑functional communication about detection work, keeping stakeholders informed of priorities, progress, and challenges
Conduct research and source intelligence on high‑priority harm areas
Model leadership, mentor teammates, and review their work as needed
Anticipate project risks, negotiate with decision‑makers, and balance business needs versus technical constraints on complex problems
Develop and deliver training for other T&S members
Create and maintain knowledge‑management documentation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Comfortable working in a content moderation environment, including exposure to sensitive content
Experience managing multiple end‑to‑end projects, prioritizing tasks, tracking deliverables, and working independently
Strong analytical skills, working with large data sets to solve business problems and provide actionable insights (advanced Excel, Google Sheets, Grafana, etc.)
Experience in process and performance improvement initiatives
Familiarity with machine learning, including large language models
Proficient problem‑solving skills, structuring ambiguous challenges into actionable plans
Background collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams at all levels
Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
Highly detail‑oriented and able to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information
Experience developing tools and solutions that improve trust across a platform or product
Availability for flexible hours, including rotational weekends on‑call
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
8+ years of experience in technology, safety, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of managing teams
If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.
