Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills.
Demonstrates responsible behavior as a health care professional.
Performs the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
Applies principles of asepsis and aseptic technique.
Identifies variances from expected outcomes and responds to changes in patient needs.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications – Surgical Technologist 1
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience.
Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
Qualifications – Surgical Technologist 2
High School diploma or equivalent.
2 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
Qualifications – Surgical Technologist 3
High School diploma or equivalent.
1 Year Surg Tech experience or equivalent.
Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) via NCCT required upon start.
