Workforce Development Technical Program Manager

Position Overview Drive strategic workforce development initiatives to attract, develop, and preserve technical capabilities and ensure talent pipeline readiness for current and future technology needs across Western Digital’s global operations.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
– Design and execute technical workforce development programs aligned with business strategy and emerging technology roadmaps.
Skills Assessment & Gap Analysis
– Use AI and traditional tools to conduct capability assessments and identify critical skill gaps across technical organizations.
Curriculum Development
– Partner with functional teams to create technical training curricula for current and emerging technologies (AI/ML, advanced manufacturing processes).
Cross‑functional Collaboration
– Work with Operations, HR, Engineering, Product Development, and IT to align workforce development with operational needs.
Result‑Oriented Execution
– Drive success metrics and analytics; track program effectiveness through assessments, retention rates, and business impact metrics.
Talent Pipeline Management
– Establish partnerships with community colleges, universities, trade schools, and workforce boards to build sustainable talent pipelines.
Benchmarking
– Benchmark industry best practices and emerging technologies and drive internal adoption to ensure WD’s programs are best in class.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
5+ years in technical program management or workforce development.
Strong project‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
Experience in hardware, manufacturing, or software industries.
Preferred
Experience with instructional design, curriculum development, and technical training programs.
Experience driving new initiatives into an organization.
Knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to high‑tech industries.

Demonstrated versatility in adopting the latest technologies/tools in own workflows.

Compensation & Benefits Details
Pay position is based on education, experience, skills, performance, geography, and internal equity.
Salary ranges are provided for California, Colorado, New York, or remote positions limited to those states.
Non‑exempt employees may be eligible for overtime pay and shift differential pay, per company policy.
Eligible for bonuses under either the Western Digital Short‑Term Incentive Plan (STI) or Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) and for the Long‑Term Incentive (LTI) program (RSUs), subject to role and performance.
