Senior Modem Engineer
role at
Logos Space .
Logos Space is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system built to deliver resilient, high‑performance connectivity for commercial and government customers worldwide. We provide cloud and data‑center network connectivity to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals with speed and reliability as the foundation of our system.
About the Role The Senior Modem Engineer is a DSP and wireless communication system design role that conceives, plans, and executes waveform and protocol stack designs, as well as fixed‑point design, implementation, integration, and testing for the entire Logos payload, terminal, and ground systems.
The engineer defines and refines this function in the Logos context, sizes it appropriately, simplifies when necessary, and works with leadership to make decisions that deliver optimal modem and protocol stack outcomes at program speed. The role involves solving problems related to satellite dynamics across all modem states and a wide range of payloads, and thrives in a fast‑moving environment where vague ideas are turned into solutions.
Responsibilities
Work with leads on waveform, stack, and modem platform decisions, and oversee implementation, integration, and subsystem testing for all payloads across parameter space.
Engineer production‑worthy PHY and MAC designs—both transmit and receive sides—for payloads with varying requirements.
Provide ingenuity to waveform and receiver designs to operate various payloads across a wide range of operating conditions.
Collaborate with team leads to conceive, plan, and build all labs needed to scale PHY and MAC subsystem testing of the Logos Space baseband system in both transmitter and receiver hardware.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field with significant experience in system design, PHY and MAC layer designs, and mapping onto hardware and firmware platforms.
Experience working in a startup context.
Significant experience in satcom and/or terrestrial wireless system design, integration, and test.
Experience with software or hardware systems throughout the product life cycle—from conceptual design and trade‑offs to detailed design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, deployment, and operations in a team setting.
Experience designing complex DSP, transmitter, and receiver algorithms for PHY and/or MAC layers in SatCom, 3GPP, WiFi, or cable modem contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM field with significant experience in DSP, PHY, and MAC designs.
6+ years of experience with wireless systems design, integration, and test.
Experience delivering products to production in fast‑paced startups.
