Responsibilities The Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Division of Hospital-Based Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seek a full‑time, non‑tenure eligible clinician at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include:

Provide clinical services at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Main Campus), Lurie Children’s Immediate Care Center, Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Lead several general inpatient pediatric hospitalist services (both teaching and non‑teaching), a general pediatric consulting service, and sedation for medical imaging studies.

Support front‑line clinical care in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Staff the Lurie Children’s Immediate Care Center, providing ambulatory, acute care.

Lead newborn nursery teams, delivery room/consultative team, and support NICU care at Prentice Women’s Hospital.

Provide pediatric consultations to the physical medicine and rehabilitation team at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Deliver education to pediatric residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.

Participate in quality improvement, health equity, clinical informatics, and scholarship initiatives.

Position Details

Full‑time faculty provide approximately 1,800 clinical service hours per year.

Schedules published in several‑month increments with frequent shift trades.

Electronic health record system used: Epic.

Academic appointments through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine; rank commensurate with accomplishments.

Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship or certification not required.

Education & Training Opportunities to facilitate Problem‑Based Learning and Medical Clinical Skills courses, and to engage with undergraduate and graduate medical trainees.

Location Chicago, IL offers a vibrant cultural and professional environment. Lurie Children’s Hospital is located near the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Magnificent Mile. Faculty may reside in the city or surrounding suburbs.

Candidate Profile Ideal candidates include those interested in academic hospital medicine, short‑term hospital medicine before pursuing specialty fellowships (Neonatology, Pediatric Critical Care), and those willing to work with residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.

Qualifications Qualified candidates must hold a valid state medical license (MD/DO) or be pending.

Compensation Base pay range: USD 179,633–209,480. Pay determined by experience, qualifications, budget, and market comparators.
