Chief Information Officer – CNS Healthcare
Join our executive leadership team as Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide visionary leadership and oversee the Information Technology, Customer Care Team, and Health Information Management departments. The CIO will direct, plan, organize and control all activities to ensure effective, efficient, and secure data processing and system operations, aligning with strategic goals to increase revenue and improve outcomes.

This position offers remote flexibility but requires work in the office and off‑site as needed.

Essential Functions
Support development and implementation of strategic IT, information systems, health information management and customer care plans and policies.
Promote innovative use of IT to advance the agency and achieve maximum efficiencies.
Conduct ongoing assessment, planning and oversight of department management and service delivery.
Ensure optimized performance and high‑quality outcomes of departments and resources, establishing key performance standards.
Provide guidance to President & CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and staff on IT, info systems, health information management, and customer care matters.
Maintain IT data and network security, risk management, assessments, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
Implement controls and training plans for cybersecurity and health information management.
Oversee EHR systems to ensure high availability, accessibility and regulatory compliance.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of agency databases and data analytics with timely reporting for decision‑making and quality improvement.
Analyze large volumes of data for trends impacting the organization.
Manage budget and expense control for assigned departments.
Manage IT assets efficiently and cost‑effectively.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders; participate in planning committees and work groups.
Maintain vendor relationships and manage contract and service agreements.
Lead and serve on committees and attend internal/external meetings, including SLT, Board, and agency meetings.
Conduct meetings in‑person, virtually, or by phone as required.
Travel off‑site for meetings, conferences, activities, and events.
Stay current on emerging IT, info systems, health information management, and customer care systems.
Lead development, management, and implementation of HIPAA compliant processes and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Facilitate integration of data, information, knowledge and wisdom to support clinical decisions and advance standard work across the continuum of care.
Maintain compliance with policies, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, and applicable laws and regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Infrastructure, Security, and Alignment
Deep understanding of behavioral health clinical workflows to ensure technology supports care.
Extensive experience selecting, implementing, and optimizing EHR/EMR systems with behavioral health documentation.
Commitment to secure data sharing with other healthcare partners.
Proficiency in data requirements for CCBHCs and other APMs tied to quality metrics.
Ability to translate complex data into actionable dashboards for clinicians.
In‑depth knowledge of HIPAA, state privacy laws, and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance.
Understanding of funding models and ability to drive efficiency and revenue optimization.
Proven track record of leading technology rollouts and change management.
Expertise in defining, extracting, and reporting CCBHC metrics and payer KPIs.
Experience using data to build models identifying high‑risk patients.
Foundational understanding of AI/ML applications with ethical framework for transparent, responsible, unbiased use.
Qualifications – Required
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
At least 10 years of leadership and health informatics experience implementing HIT and health information systems in a multi‑system healthcare organization.
At least 5 years of senior/executive leadership, management, and strategic development experience.
Experience leading transformational change and using change leadership models.
Proficiency with financial and budgetary management.
Strong technical knowledge and experience with current industry technologies.
Strong communication and presentation skills in strategic and business leadership.
Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products.
Proficient knowledge and use of electronic health records (EHRs).
Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships.
Ability to recognize importance of outcome data collection and reporting.
Effective professional communication skills.
Discretion and judgment in handling sensitive or confidential matters.
Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Forward‑thinking initiative to accomplish department objectives.
Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License.
Transportation or automobile accessibility with current auto insurance.
