Pay range: $76,500 - $90,000 per year. Actual base pay determined by permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Position Overview
Under the general guidance of the Director, Technical Services, the Engineering Supervisor maintains and develops plans for upgrades and maintenance of Technical Services equipment. Research and implement new and emerging technologies while continuing to creatively exploit current installs maximizing the use of current equipment. Troubleshoots and supports the needs of events and concerts as well as game day operations. Installs and repairs Broadcast and AV systems as needed. Manages equipment inventory, storage, and repairs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Training
With Senior Production Manager Document, implement, and maintain standard SOPs for all control room positions. Lead IATSE in training and operation of Sharks Sports and Entertainment owned broadcast and AV equipment
Management
Support Senior Production Manager in full‑time and part‑time employee scheduling, and ensure employee growth to independently supervise TCU games and control room activated events; also, backup Sharks games independently if needed. Document, implement, and maintain arena maintenance checklists for hockey and non‑hockey events. Manage Sharks Sports and Entertainment technical service equipment maintenance and repairs. Review technical services inventory and keep documentation up to date. Oversee check‑in/Check‑out process. Catalog, manage and track asset warranties and hardware asset lifespan. Govern technical services physical storage areas. As assigned by the Director, lead technical services projects from start to finish which could include repair, replace, or upgrade Sharks Sports and Entertainment infrastructure. Work within the designated project budget and timeline. Manage support contracts for Technical Services equipment.
Infrastructure Design and Management
Maintain catalog of all field and truck panels with I/O details, photos, and status. Supervise all patch bay cabling mitigating unnecessary cabling left behind from events. Propose infrastructure changes and annual capital expense requests to Director, Technical Services and assist with implementation of approved projects as needed. Lead capital expense projects as assigned. In coordination with Director, manage and document all annual maintenance agreements for Sharks Sports and Entertainment Technical Service infrastructure. In coordination with Director, captain legacy infrastructure systems with vendors. Assist Director in development of venue technical specifications document outlining all infrastructure‑based services to make available to broadcast partners, other departments, and internal reference.
Game Day Operations
Monitor and maintain Sharks Sports and Entertainment broadcast, and A/V systems. Support control room staff on all technical matters. Support local broadcast, supervise patching house feeds to truck and program feeds from the truck. Supervise Lead Technician in daily tasks, including confirming all radio & TV feeds, ensuring ADA/listening channels and closed captioning are fully functioning, and deploying Daktronics game clock hardware and additional infrastructure to penalty box.
Concerts and Events
Assist technical needs for events, IE use of fascia, center hung, audio etc. Engineer, deploy and support A/V setups for events. In coordination with Director, support walkthroughs requested from other departments providing technical insight to effectively manage expectations.
Qualifications
Minimum 8+ years technical experience and control room experience required. Experience with Broadcast and A/V systems and manufacturers such as Grass Valley, Ross, EVS, Daktronics, QSC and additional control room systems. Proficiency in on‑line team‑based project management ecosystems. Must be willing to work event‑based hours that include nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in‑person meetings. Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation. Ability to physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation. May require travel to other company locations, and/or conferences and events within the Bay Area or in‑or out‑of‑state locations. What We Offer
