Service Project Manager

Location:
Columbus, IN (Moving to Shelbyville, IN in ~8 months)
Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a Service Project Manager for a direct hire position in Columbus, IN. This company will be moving to Shelbyville, IN in about 8 months.
Responsibilities
Manage and plan short-term service projects from a technical and coordination perspective.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal service teams.
Scope work, create service offers, and document activities within the system.
Provide remote system access and troubleshooting support for customer issues.
Perform root cause analysis for any projects that exceed budget.
Support both preventive and reactive maintenance on installed systems.
Assist with commissioning of new systems and customer training.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform professional technical troubleshooting.
Conduct emissions measurements and reporting (NOx, Soot, CO, etc.).
Provide remote support via phone and email for troubleshooting and spare parts identification.
Determine when field technicians must be dispatched to job sites.
Prepare documentation, tools, and parts for service projects.
Travel expectation: 25–50% during the first 6 months, decreasing to Required Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a technical field.
5+ years of experience in a service coordination, technical support, or similar role.
Strong mechanical aptitude with previous hands‑on troubleshooting or repair experience.
Experience with project management, scheduling, and customer phone support.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues remotely and coordinate service efforts.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, flexible, and less structured environment.
Highly autonomous, proactive, and customer‑focused mindset.
