Location Portland International Airport
Schedule Sunday - Wednesday | 4:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Pay Range $30.00 - $37.00 per hour (Compensation depends on experience, certifications, and skills.)
Position Summary The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on a variety of GSE - including tow tractors, belt loaders, pushback tractors, air start units, cargo loaders, deicers, and more. This role requires technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and adherence to safety and aviation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC systems on various GSE equipment
Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble components to OEM standards
Perform preventive maintenance and document all work in a Maintenance Information System (MIS)
Utilize service bulletins, manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot effectively
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures
Maintain a clean, organized work environment and company tools/vehicles
Collaborate with internal teams and communicate professionally with customers
Participate in ongoing training and skill development
Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager or Lead Technician
Qualifications
1-4 years of repair and service experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical systems (or equivalent vocational training)
1-2 years of experience with mobile or diesel-powered heavy equipment preferred
Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills required
Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Competent computer skills and comfort with diagnostic software
Physically able to perform job functions (lifting 50+ lbs, bending, kneeling, working in various weather conditions)
Must supply own hand tools
Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S. required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
