Unit secretaries support a wide range of individuals, including patients and other medical professionals. The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to multi‑task.
P6 (Pavilion 6) is the 21-bed inpatient medical psychiatry unit at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. Over the years it has evolved from a traditional psychiatric unit to one that serves an increasingly medically complex population with a particular emphasis on geriatric psychiatry. All patients on P6 have both a major psychiatric illness and a medical comorbidity that requires inpatient level of care. We are excited to grow our interdisciplinary team and welcome applicants from those new to psychiatry to those with many years of experience.
Summary
The Nursing Unit Secretary II role performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. This role has responsibility for advanced unit involvement in projects and house‑wide activities.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
Experience: Three years of secretarial experience with at least one year within MaineHealth required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Nursing Unit Secretary I role.
