About Beaumont
With a population of more than 118,000, Beaumont, Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Beaumont has been a home to the oil industry from the days of the Spindletop oil boom until today, and along with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, is part of the Golden Triangle industrial area on the Texas Gulf Coast.

What You Will Do

  • Lab tester are responsible for safe, reliable, and consistent testing of finished products and intermediary streams used for product certification and process quality control in our manufacturing facilities.
  • Perform routine laboratory analyses by following written procedures providing data to internal and external customers.
  • Lab testers work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required.
  • This position is located at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex in Beaumont, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety practices and protocols and report immediately any unsafe work condition or equipment to supervisor
  • Conduct laboratory analyses (hands on working on the bench)
  • Understand, keep current with, and follow rigorously without deviations all laboratory analysis methods and procedures to produce accurate and timely data
  • Perform Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tests according to schedule
  • Lead/Participate in safe work practice team activities and actively care for all
  • Complete all laboratory reports as applicable
  • Troubleshoot and notify specialists when instruments deviate from control chart
  • Understand general laboratory QA/QC requirements
  • Participate in Test Method Assessments
  • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of equipment and work area
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in relevant major (biology, chemistry, STEM, etc.) or a minimum of 3-5 years of prior relevant experience in an industrial/medical laboratory.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Successful completion of the ExxonMobil Pre-Employment Test
  • Work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to work under general supervision to meet changing priorities and deadlines within a demanding 24/7 work environment
  • Proficiency with standard computer software, including MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience with physical property testing and associated methodology
  • Flash point determination, distillation, vapor pressure, viscosity, phase testing etc.
