Base pay range $22.00/hr - $29.00/hr
Responsibilities
Understand and follow all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards.
Assist veterinarians with examinations and procedures, and alert the veterinarian of emergencies or animal problems.
Administer clinical treatments as directed (PO, IM, SQ, IV) to critical and chronic animals.
Monitor the health status and support medical care for all DVR species (to include NHPs, dogs, pigs, sheep, rats, rabbits, and mice).
Operate mechanical ventilators, anesthesia equipment, ECG, capnography and related equipment.
Supervise caretakers during weekend shifts.
Report personnel problems to Lead Veterinary Technician.
Participate in weekly technical or SOP training.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Be available to work the hours of 6:00 am – 2:30 pm or from 11:00 am – 7:30 pm Monday‑Friday. Weekend work is scheduled from 11:30 am – 5:30 pm. Additional hours up to and including overnights may be required based on research needs or emergency situations.
Required Experience
Must have an A.A in Veterinary Technology or a B.S. in Biology, Animal Science, or a related discipline.
5+ years of related experience.
Experience with surgically (aseptically and anesthetically) preparing and transporting animals to surgery and recovering them upon return.
Experience providing pre‑ and post‑monitoring of vital signs (respiration, heart rate, body temperature, pulse, etc.) of animals scheduled for surgical procedures.
Ability to think strategically and proactively to anticipate needs, risks, and emerging requirements.
Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
AALASS certified at LAT and be LATG eligible (LATG certification is required within one year of hire).
