Project Manager – MEP (Dialectic)
Dialectic is a full‑service mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design and consulting firm headquartered in the Crossroads of Kansas City, Missouri. The firm is known for delivering inventive, flexible, and sustainable MEP designs for retail, education, restaurant, commercial, entertainment, healthcare, cannabis, mixed‑use, and hospitality spaces.
The Project Manager will oversee the overall project direction, completion, and financial outcome, administer owner and subcontractor relationships to meet deadlines, and mentor staff. The role requires strong leadership, organizational, time‑management, communication, and client‑service skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage MEP design projects for new buildings, renovations, and additions.
Oversee projects and program delivery to ensure quality and on‑time completion.
Coordinate project schedules with clients and stakeholders.
Maintain proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project performance to meet quality and budget expectations.
Provide coordination of project designs with outside consultants.
Direct internal design team to meet client requirements.
Review and provide feedback to design team to maintain client standards.
Guide kick‑off meetings, design meetings, and premieres.
Identify and promptly address impediments to performance or timing.
Assist with contract negotiations, proposals, and obtaining signed contracts.
Maintain accurate forecasting and projections for projects.
Review and mark up draft invoices accurately and pursue additional services when scope changes.
Facilitate communication across projects and cross‑functional teams.
Create additional business opportunities with existing clients.
Deliver an excellent engineering experience.
Required Skills

Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

Effective communication with all staff levels, clients, owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
Computer proficiency including MS Office, project management software, and accounting software.
Self‑motivated, flexible and proactive problem‑solver.
Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related industry.
7 years of relevant MEP experience in commercial, retail, restaurant, and hospitality settings, including at least 3 years of project management experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Knowledge of project management standards and execution.
Understanding of building design and construction principles.
Travel up to 15% as needed.
Location:
Kansas City, Missouri (hybrid: up to 2 days at home, 3 days in office).
