Job Description

Plan and oversee field exploration, characterization, and laboratory testing of soil and rock materials.

Supervise teams performing material characterization, seepage and slope stability analyses, and design slope stabilization measures for dams and spillways.

Lead analyses of seismic stability and deformations of dams, including earthquake ground motions, liquefaction potential (static and seismic), and fault‑induced deformations.

Prepare and present technical presentations to project teams, clients, regulators, and technical review boards.

Supervise preparation of technical reports, independent dam safety inspections, and potential failure mode analyses.

Conduct potential failure mode and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, identifying and developing failure modes, and serve as subject‑matter expert in risk analysis workshops.

Manage projects by tracking scope, schedule, and budget.

Mentor and develop junior staff, supporting their technical success.

Review engineering reports and documentation prepared by junior staff.

Perform independent technical reviews and ensure quality of project deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering + 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License (required for this role).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in Civil Engineering or related field.

20+ years of relevant experience.

Experience in dam design and evaluation, including materials characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.

Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications.

Leadership experience with effective delegation skills.

Proficiency with GeoStudio (SEEP/W and SLOPE/W), UTEXAS4, Grapher, FLAC/FLAC3D, and AutoCAD.

Experience with risk analysis projects.

Business development for new and existing clients, including proposal preparation, cost estimates, and schedules.

Resourceful, highly organized, with strong commitment to safe project execution.

Additional Information

Local travel required.

Relocation available for this role.
