Chief Credit Officer (CCO)

plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s credit portfolio and managing the risk associated with the commitment and funding of bank loans - with a strong emphasis on multifamily real estate-backed transactions. This executive ensures loans across our entire portfolio are properly reviewed, appropriately assessed, and maintained in a timely manner. This position will chair the Loan Workout Committee on the remediation and/or collection processes related to distressed assets. After one year as our Chief Credit Officer, you will know you were successful if you do the following confidently and independently… Establish and oversee the procedures and guidelines for loan review and approval. Lead the loan review committee in executing reviews and approvals. Provide final recommendations on loan risk and acceptable mitigants. Recommend and oversee the implementation and maintenance of determined lending and risk strategies. Advise executive management on portfolio risk and recommend ongoing mitigation strategies. Lead processes related to resolving delinquent loans and manage loan workout plans. Collaborate with loan officers to manage customer relationships related to non-current loans. Advise internal credit underwriting functions in understanding and executing on organizational risk strategies. Lead the Loan Workout Committee in assessing external risk factors and their impacts on the bank portfolio. Contribute to the overall analysis and risk rating of portfolio loans. Requirements What we are looking for… Equivalent education and experience to ensure strong financial and business acumen required; some combination of bachelor’s level education, extensive related lending experience, and/or 15-plus years’ relevant credit review experience required. Must demonstrate strong experience working with multifamily real estate credit and finance. Advanced understanding of financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents used in the analysis of lending risk. Mastery of lending processes, industry terminology, and relevant borrower information. Superior understanding of regulations related to bank lending and loan risk management. Must demonstrate sophisticated analytical skills with the ability to execute on objective, fact-based decisions. Previous experience successfully managing credit teams and collaborating with loan officers. Must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to translate complex, sophisticated, detailed information into usable formats for broader audiences. Demonstrated success in discerning market forces and developing appropriate, profitable business strategies. Strong grasp on corporate governance, managerial best practices, and risk management and mitigation. Solid understanding of relevant business finance and operations.
