Physician Assistant - Interventional Radiology
Boston Medical Center (BMC) is looking for a Physician Assistant to work in our Interventional Radiology department.
Position Summary Under the general supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant provides clinical care in the interventional radiology service, including patient assessment, diagnostic testing, interventional procedures, postoperative care, and discharge planning. All duties are performed in compliance with Massachusetts Board regulations and the scope of services defined by 263 CMR 5.00.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Initial assessment and admission of patients; evaluation and preparation for interventional procedures.
Act as first and second assistant in the interventional radiology suite, performing tasks such as patient draping, vascular access, line placement, and related procedures.
Care for patients post‑intervention, including basic nursing care, catheter management, and wound care.
Conduct rounds, write progress reports, and maintain comprehensive patient documentation.
Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and formulate care plans.
Present findings and treatment plans to the attending physician, document plans, and write orders.
Coordinate patient care across departments, ensuring efficient and cost‑effective treatment.
Consult with physicians or surgeons on complex diagnoses, transcribe pre‑ and post‑operative orders under physicians' countersignature.
Educate patients and families about preventive and post‑discharge care.
Maintain compliance with NCQA, TJC, and federal/state regulatory standards.
Assist in orientation of fellows, residents, and medical students.
Participate in educational programs to maintain professional growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Credentials
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and graduation from an ARC‑PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current Massachusetts PA license and NCCPA PANCE eligibility upon hire.
Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration if prescribing medications.
Experience Preferred: prior experience in an interventional radiology setting or specialty.
Knowledge & Skills Self‑directed, initiative, professionalism, expert clinical judgment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills, ability to care for diverse populations with varying health literacy.
Compensation Salary range: $104,000.00 – $151,000.00. Total compensation includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, bonuses, 403(b) matches, PTO, and additional benefits.
