Psychiatrist
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team for a full-time appointment.
Responsibilities
Provide medical and psychiatric care to patients by consultation, supervision, and direction to CMHI medical staff; supervise mid-level providers (e.g., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner).
Develop and review medical or psychiatric treatment plans for patients in collaboration with mid-level providers.
Prepare psychiatric/forensic evaluations for submission to courts and complete medical reports documenting treatment services.
Prescribe medications, determine when patient referral is necessary, and provide after-hours coverage as Officer of the Day on a rotating schedule.
Provide education, training and conference teaching in psychiatry and general medicine; mentor medical school graduates in CMHI’s psychiatric internship program.
Complete background checks as required.
Qualifications
Board Certification in Psychiatry.
Completion of a psychiatry residency program (internship requirement).
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, internship program completion, and licensure as a physician by the State of Iowa.
