Job Summary

The Quality Improvement Coordinator works with the Director of Quality to plan, organize, direct and lead staff, and process quality improvement programs. This role requires system design, reengineering, project management, quality improvement, outcome measurement and analysis expertise. The coordinator provides leadership in all aspects of Quality Management, including establishing a systematic approach to Quality Management, setting priorities, mentoring staff, leading patient safety initiatives, monitoring progress, evaluating and continually improving the quality system. In conjunction with the Risk Manager and Director of Quality, the coordinator works to minimize financial loss through risk detection, evaluation, and prevention programs.

The coordinator coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital’s overall Quality Improvement (QI) program across ancillary, nursing, and medical staff departments to identify trends, prioritize improvements, reduce duplication, and ensure regulatory and licensure compliance, contractual obligations, and corporate policies.

The coordinator investigates incident reports, patient complaints, patient care issues, and other relevant issues as requested.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, and lead staff for the Quality Improvement program.

Design, reengineer, manage projects, and analyze outcomes to facilitate continuous improvement.

Lead patient safety initiatives, monitor progress, evaluate, and improve the quality system.

Coordinate development, implementation, and evaluation of the QI program across all departments.

Identify trends, prioritize improvements, reduce duplication, and ensure regulatory and licensure compliance and contractual obligations.

Investigate incident reports, patient complaints, patient care issues, and other relevant incidents.

Collaborate with Risk Manager and Director of Quality to detect, evaluate, and prevent potential financial loss.

Qualifications

College degree in a clinical area.

At least 2 years’ experience in an acute hospital setting with data collection and reporting responsibilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred certifications: ASQ or CPHQ.

Safety Sensitive‑Designated Positions Position classification: Safety Sensitive Designated.
