Mariana Minerals is looking for a highly motivated Staff/Senior Piping / Pipe Stress / Vessel Engineer with experience in piping, pressure vessel, and tank engineering. Mariana Minerals is building the critical minerals supply chain to support the world’s energy transition.
Base pay range: $120,000 – $160,000 per year.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive flexibility and computational pipe stress analysis using Caesar II for various piping systems
Design and analyze pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2 using PV Elite or Compress software
Provide detailed markups on piping diagrams and isometrics to guide piping and structural designers
Specify pipe guides, anchors, supports, and alternative materials or suppliers to meet project schedules
Review and ensure the quality of 3D design work (Revit, Plant3D, CADWORX) by the Process Design Team, incorporating pipe stress and pressure vessel analysis results
Generate bills of material for supports, guides, anchors, stops, flex joints, and expansion joints for procurement
Perform dynamic analyses, including slug flow, water hammer, and flange leakage checks, using Caesar II
Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for critical vessel junctions using FE Pipe or Nozzle Pro
Communicate the impact of stress and vessel analysis on designs and elevate concerns regarding schedules or material lead times
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on piping and pressure vessel design, ensuring compliance with ASME and ASTM codes
Mentor and guide junior engineers, staff augmentation engineers, and high‑value engineering partners
Edit and tailor pipe and pressure vessel specifications to meet project‑specific requirements
Review and approve final design documents, including isometrics, shop drawings, material submittals, and pipe support designs
Support onsite construction and commissioning by addressing technical questions and resolving issues in real time
Continuously improve project workflows and standards to ensure consistent, high‑quality designs for piping and pressure vessels
Qualifications
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage the understanding to solve challenging problems
Strong foundation in piping or vessel engineering with a demonstrated ability to apply first principles to solve complex design and field challenges
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
10+ years of experience in piping and pressure vessel engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain within 6 months (preferred)
In-depth knowledge of ASME piping codes (B31.3), ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2, ASTM piping standards, structural codes, and building/fire codes
Expert proficiency in Caesar II for pipe stress analysis and Nozzle Pro for allowable nozzle loads
Hands‑on experience designing pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Div 1 (experience with Compress software preferred)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
Proven ability to collaborate in a cross‑functional environment with structural, process, and high‑value engineering teams
Exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders and clearly convey technical information
Experience with equipment engineering and design, including but not limited to:
Brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades
Greenfield equipment design
Evaluation and optimization of operating equipment
Experience with the following industries and/or production environments:
Industrial manufacturing
Large‑scale mining or mineral processing
Large‑scale chemical production processes
Engineering, procurement, and construction firms
