Position Summary The Route Supervisor, under the direction of the Manager, will be responsible for overseeing daily field operations related to the collection, transportation, and disposal of liquid waste materials. This role ensures that route drivers operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The route supervisor serves as a key link between field operations, customers, and management, ensuring high service quality and operational excellence to mirror WRM core values. This includes enforcing all policies and procedures to ensure driver efficiencies are being met.

Essential Job Functions

Supervise daily operations by overseeing route drivers to ensure timely, safe and cost‑effective waste collection services.

Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and all WRM safety policies and procedures.

Conduct safety briefings and meetings, toolbox talks, route observations and ride‑along.

Investigate all work‑related incidents, accidents, property damage, and "near misses" to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

Conduct performance reviews, address conduct and productivity issues, and administer progressive disciplinary action when necessary.

Monitor and audit driver timekeeping and attendance, ensuring compliance with regulatory limits and company policies, while also managing overtime.

Review daily productivity KPIs (e.g., gallons per hour, mileage), monitor driver performance, and address service issues promptly.

Coordinate with dispatch calls, clarify service requirements, and maintain clear communication with drivers, customers, and operations team to resolve service interruptions, vehicle breakdowns, and other operational inefficiency issues.

Provide training, mentoring, and coaching on safe and efficient work practices. Ensure all drivers are trained in accordance with WRM processes and SOPs.

Provide real‑time solutions to minimize disruption to services and ensure timely completion of deliveries.

Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule vehicle servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance, ensuring the fleet is safe and operational.

Prepare reports using company software systems or Office 365 on operational efficiency and compliance audits.

Address customer inquiries and resolve service issues quickly and professionally.

Work with the Dispatching team to optimize routes and scheduling. Assist with routing and dispatching when needed.

Operate office machines such as copiers, scanners, and fax machines.

Ability to handle multiple assignments.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem‑solving.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will have direct reports.

Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma/GED is required.

2+ years of experience in supervisor transportation or dispatching operations, preferably in the waste management or transportation industry.

1-2 years of experience working in Microsoft Excel and Word (Intermediate to advanced knowledge preferred).

2+ years of customer service experience.

1+ years of experience reporting financial information to upper management is preferred.

Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
