ASIC RTL Design Engineer, AI Hardware Tesla

The Tesla AI Hardware team is looking for a Senior ASIC RTL Design Engineer to work on industry-leading AI accelerators in Palo Alto, CA. The candidate is expected to implement and document microarchitecture specifications, define system‑level functional requirements, and deliver high‑quality designs to achieve project targets.

Responsibilities

Develop micro‑architecture specifications and design

Deliver performance, area, and power‑efficient RTL design

Design RTL, microarchitecture, and specifications of accelerators, memory, and network subsystems

Collaborate with architecture and software teams to meet design targets

Balance performance, power, safety, and cost requirements

Evaluate trade‑offs of functional, physical, and performance requirements

Work with cross‑functional teams, including implementation, verification, and performance engineering

Design for synthesis

Qualifications

High performance (low latency, high bandwidth) design techniques

Area and power‑efficient complex RTL design experience

Low power microarchitecture techniques

Proficiency in Verilog RTL logic design

Experience with simulators and waveform debug tools

Knowledge of logic design principles, including timing and power implications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Five or more years of industry experience

Experience with IEEE floating‑point (plus)

Experience with high‑speed SERDES or SOC design (plus)

Compensation Expected compensation: $120,000 - $264,000 annual salary plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on location, experience, and other factors.
