President & Chief Executive Officer – Tampa Theatre, Inc.
Location: Tampa, Florida Position Overview
The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing overall leadership and guidance for Tampa Theatre’s continued development as a landmark destination film and cultural center, including oversight of operations, development, marketing, community relations, and film curation. Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and collaborate with the Board of Directors and community leaders in governance, policy development, and fund‑raising. Oversee implementation, coordination, and evaluation of all operations and restoration projects. Ensure financial stability and fiscal management of the approximately $5 million annual budget and 19 full‑time staff. Lead the $30 million capital campaign and manage the five focus areas. Build and maintain partnerships with the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, and the broader cultural community. Develop and execute a robust programming strategy that includes film, live events, education, and community engagement. Prepare the organization for its 100th anniversary in 2026 through restoration and educational initiatives. Represent Tampa Theatre to a wide range of audiences and champion the venue’s mission. Capital Campaign Focus Areas
The authentic restoration of public spaces. Embedding state‑of‑the‑art technology to enhance film and live events. Addressing infrastructure and sustainability issues such as a new HVAC system. The conversion of under‑utilized spaces to create 3,600 sq ft of dedicated education space and a new reception area. The building of an endowment fund. Required Professional Skills and Abilities
We Seek
An Historic Theatre/Performing Arts Facility professional with expertise in community partnerships, fund‑raising, marketing, concessions, front of house, education, ticketing, rentals, board development, backstage/technical operations, capital campaigns, capital project management, and programming. A leader who understands the broader community impact of historic theatre restoration. A collaborative and politically savvy leader who will sustain strong relationships with the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, and the wider community. The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Seven to ten years of proven success in a leadership position managing an historic theatre, performing arts venue, or cultural organization. A graduate degree in arts, arts management, or not‑for‑profit administration is preferred (experience may substitute). Existing networks within the cultural sector and knowledge of film programming. Experience managing capital projects and capital/endowment campaigns. High emotional intelligence and maturity to honor the past, learn the current organization, and contribute a personal vision. Ability to build and nurture management teams and highly committed board members. A track record in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation/government funders. Proven success in building public/private partnerships and working with public/government sectors. Collaborative, approachable leadership style with the ability to delegate and a high degree of integrity. High level oral and written communication skills. Political acumen, tact, diplomacy, strategic thinking, and patience required to negotiate and manage change. Application Process
The total compensation package (including benefits, car allowance, and a discretionary annual bonus) will be in the $191,000 to $215,000 range.
