About the Role As a Platform Engineer II you’ll own small‑ to medium‑sized platform features from design through operation. You’ll collaborate with Staff and Senior engineers to simplify Kubernetes for over 100 developers by creating self‑service automation and scalable infrastructure on AWS. This role is perfect for engineers who have a few successful, production‑level projects under their belt and are ready to deepen their expertise in cloud‑native ecosystems while mentoring more junior teammates.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement platform capabilities that improve developer experience, reliability, or security.

Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code for Kubernetes and AWS using Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and other emerging tools.

Contribute to and improve our CI/CD pipelines (Argo CD / Workflows / Rollouts, GitHub Actions).

Instrument services with observability tooling (Datadog, Amplitude) and own monitoring dashboards.

Participate fully in the on‑call rotation, driving incident resolution and root‑cause analysis.

Proactively identify technical debt and propose pragmatic remediation plans.

Collaborate with product engineers to understand their needs and translate them into platform features.

Provide informal mentorship to Platform Engineer I team members and interns.

What We’re Looking For

3‑5 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, including hands‑on work with cloud infrastructure.

Production experience operating Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE, AKS, or on‑prem) and containerized applications.

Proficiency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python preferred) and IaC tooling (Terraform).

Working knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, ALB, S3) and networking/security fundamentals.

Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CNCF ecosystem tools (Argo, Helm, Backstage, Envoy, etc.).

Demonstrated success improving system reliability, performance, or developer productivity.

Strong communication skills, ability to break down complex topics for diverse audiences, and a bias for collaborative problem solving.

Commitment to continuous learning and a pragmatic, business‑aligned engineering mindset.

Salary Information Based on Colorado law, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Colorado. Colorado range: $138,000 - $207,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)

Based on legislation in New York City, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in New York City. New York City salary range: $154,000 - $231,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)

Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in San Francisco Bay Area of California. Salary range: $154,000 - $231,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)

Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in California outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. California salary range: $138,000 - $207,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)

Based on legislation in Washington state, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Washington state. Washington salary range: $138,000 - $207,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)

Based on legislation in Washington state, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Washington only: unlimited PTO, 10 to 13 holidays annually (will vary), medical dental and vision PPO and CDHP plans. Finally, a company sponsored 401(k) retirement plan.
