The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a part‑time Detox Counselor position. Hours are 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm, weekdays/weekend. Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor will provide Social Detox clients with clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs.

Responsibilities

• Screen, admit, discharge, and refer Detox clients.
• Provide individual counseling and conduct alcohol education and skill building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment.
• Handle crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
• Maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.
• Demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master’s degree in behavioral health science.
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.
• Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises.
• Current CPR/First Aid Training.
