Job Type: On-site Contractor

Pay Range: $60.00/hr - $80.00/hr

Position Overview

The American Sign Language (ASL) Medical in-person interpreter is responsible for handling local onsite interpreting sessions to serve our deaf and hard of hearing community and Community Healthcare practitioners in a variety of industries such as Healthcare clinical settings. This is a unique opportunity that will offer onsite in-person visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective interpreting sessions in a professional manner.
• Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Respect for and understand our deaf and hard of hearing clients, culture and preferences.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the sessions.
• Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

Qualifications

• Fluent in American Sign Language and spoken English.
• Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
• Extensive knowledge of RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Possess one of the CI/CT, NAD IV or above, NIC, BEI national certifications.
• HIPAA compliant work environment and setting.
• Minimum age 18 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor degree in Sign Language preferred but not required.
