Industrial Heavy Equipment Operator An Industrial Heavy Equipment Operator will operate construction equipment such as CAT 140M Blade with GPS, JD 750k Dozer with GPS, CAT 349 Track hoe, and 740 Trucks to move earth. Duties include safety oversight, equipment inspections, repairs, assisting other crafts during downtime, and non-operating activities. Responsibilities Operate various construction earth‑moving equipment to move earth in a precision process. Inspect equipment. Be responsible for all safety aspects of operating the equipment. Follow signal directions from a signaler in equipment operations. Access area of operations for safety issues and required processes and planning of equipment operations. Assist in other job site related tasks as assigned while not operating. Qualifications Must have 2+ years of experience as a Dirt Equipment Operator in heavy industrial construction. Must possess all job knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to meet all physical requirements. May be required to have a valid driver’s license and meet a motor vehicle records check. Must have all required tools. Must have reliable transportation. Must have experience and knowledge of operating various construction equipment such as bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders. Must have basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to inspect equipment. Must have knowledge of and be familiar with soil types. Must illustrate knowledge of excavating and specifications required for a given excavation. Must be able to follow instructions correctly. Must be reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing administrative processes such as equipment inspection paperwork. Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations. Must be able to work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with proper notification. Preferred Additional Qualification Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee. Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc. Valid Driver’s License. Reporting to This position does not have any direct reports. Physical Requirements Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs. Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements. Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi‑vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel‑toed work boots.
