Responsibilities
Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
Identify all tools required for tasks.
Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
Construct, re‑enforce, and dismantle pre‑constructed concrete forms.
Build and construct wooden forms.
Work on miscellaneous construction projects such as, but not limited to, building decks and steps, building bulletin boards, and building any additional wooden structures.
Clean up and perform housekeeping of work areas.
Required Qualifications
Must have 5+ years working as a carpenter or carpenter helper on an industrial construction project.
Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties.
Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties.
Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
Formal/Technical education.
Experience working with concrete and rebar.
Reporting There are no direct reports. The position will work closely with, and occasionally oversee, helper and labor positions, holding positional and expertise authority over those roles.
Required Tools List to be provided.
Physical Requirements
Employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift regularly.
Communication will involve speech and listening.
Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
May be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off of platforms or scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
Will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi‑vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel‑toed work boots.
