CHIEF NURSING OFFICER

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, implement, and improve quality of care within the Nursing Department and the overall milieu within the facility's units.

Oversee the planning, budgeting, and evaluation of work and resources of the Nursing Department and provide support to the Milieu.

Collect and analyze statistical data and provide reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the leadership committees.

Formulate departmental policies in accordance with accreditation, federal and state regulatory standards.

Schedule, lead, direct, and supervise nursing staff; develop and maintain proper staffing patterns according to safety needs, regulations, and budget.

Recruit, interview, and recommend appointment of qualified nursing candidates.

Ensure current competency of nursing staff per facility policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.

Identify and develop quality improvement standards for nursing to improve treatment and expedited positive resident outcomes.

Ensure proficiency and accuracy in completing client records on schedule and according to hospital standards.

Maintain a professional and productive work atmosphere and promote teamwork with co‑workers.

Support a safe work environment by following safety practices and immediately reporting concerns to Safety Risk Management.

Qualifications

Prefer a master’s degree in nursing or willingness to complete it within two years of employment; a bachelor’s degree in nursing or related healthcare field is preferred.

Minimum two years’ experience in a psychiatric clinical environment with children and adolescents, nursing management or supervision.

Considerable knowledge of child/adolescent growth and development and understanding of treatment provided by the center; ability to teach the same.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent service orientation.

Knowledge of or experience with Joint Commission standards related to behavioral health is preferred.

Certifications

Current and active Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas (or eligible compact license).

Current CPR Certification.

Ability to obtain HWC certification within first week of employment.

Scheduling

Work hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with a weekly Administrator on‑call rotation; may work weekends and evenings as needed.

Must be able to flex schedule to meet Milieu needs and fill a staff nurse position in times of critical need.
