VP, Staff Cryptography Engineer

will serve as a key role in safeguarding enterprise multi-cloud systems, networks, and data. The position is responsible for designing, developing, driving, implementing, leading, and managing multi-cloud Information Security Engineering activities for the Cryptography program, including the underlying capabilities/technologies. Additionally, this role will act as a trusted peer and stakeholder advisor within the organization, working closely with Information Security Engineering leadership to ensure the delivery of the overall program roadmap aligned with the Cryptography strategy and vision. The VP, Staff Cryptography Engineer is part of the Synchrony Information Security Cryptography Team, serving as a subject matter expert in Cloud Security, Cryptography, Information Security, Key/Secrets Management, Privacy, Public Key Infrastructure, and Tokenization. The candidate will focus on delivering enterprise data protection controls, supporting processes, and automation capabilities to support Synchrony's Information Security Engineering strategy at scale. A strong understanding and technical experience in Cloud Security, Cryptography, DevSecOps, and related domains are required. Essential Responsibilities Promote engineering excellence through automation, collaboration, and orchestration. Identify capability gaps, develop requirements, and assist with proof of concepts and testing. Lead ongoing DevSecOps/Engineering support for a multi-cloud cryptography program. Manage technology stacks, identify gaps, and ensure proper change, disaster recovery, and incident management processes. Participate as a technical lead within the team of Information Security engineers. Review and author documentation to ensure a mature security infrastructure. Prioritize work using Agile processes and communicate risks and impediments to leadership. Design and implement multi-cloud security measures to protect enterprise assets. Administer and support multi-cloud infrastructure related to security systems and tools. Mentor and serve as SME to other team members and stakeholders. Act as a SAFe Product Owner for cryptographic technologies. Support a “you build it, you own it” operational model. Collaborate with program managers, scrum masters, and architects to communicate technical impacts. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in Application Development, Information Security, Systems Engineering, or related; or 7+ years of equivalent experience without a degree. 3+ years in Cloud, Cryptography, and DevSecOps. 3+ years in leadership roles. 4+ years in regulatory compliance and security management frameworks. Hands-on expertise with API development/security, AWS, Azure, GCP, cryptography, and related technologies. Desired Characteristics Ability to work under pressure with multiple projects. Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, GIAC, ISC2, etc.). Experience designing and managing cloud security solutions. Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders. Experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies. Grade/Level: 12 The salary range is

$135,000 - $230,000

USD annually, with eligibility for bonuses. Actual compensation depends on experience and skills. Salaries are adjusted for CA, NY Metro, and Seattle markets.
