Senior Accountant
Our client, a growing residential services company specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical solutions, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its California division.
Location: San Carlos, CA. on-site Monday through Friday.
Job Description: This role offers exposure to multiple entities, payroll processing, and commission administration, along with opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Oversee payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees and ensure compliance with regulations
Calculate and administer commissions based on sales compensation plans
Support audits, compliance initiatives, and process improvements to enhance efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll or compensation accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and multi-state payroll practices
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex)
Advanced Excel skills and excellent communication abilities
