This role is within ESR’s Technology Product Risk division, on the “AIFX” Team. The Senior Manager will lead a small team that supports Capital One Intelligent Foundations & Experiences (IFX) and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML) business and technology teams. The group is responsible for some of Capital One’s most impactful and strategic work including Generative AI, and more. The team constantly seeks game‑changing products and experiences to benefit the company, and as a leading risk partner, you are a central player in all the excitement.
As a Senior Manager Risk Guide supporting IFX and AI/ML, you will partner with colleagues across product, design, tech and other risk teams to deliver results that directly impact internal and external customer experience and to implement risk solutions that ensure Capital One’s continued stability and success. You’ll manage multiple concurrent deliverables for senior‑level audiences while ensuring meticulous attention to detail, meeting milestones, and communicating consistently for team alignment.
In this role, you will:
Develop and execute the AIFX team vision and deliver enterprise and team objectives by working with the IFX & AI/ML teams.
Partner with IFX & AI/ML and act as a trusted advisor to support business initiatives, issue management, process improvement, control testing and related risk assessment activities.
Collaborate with regulatory relations and the ESR central audit team to lead and support audit and regulatory engagements.
Escalate risk management gaps, issues, and concerns, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas.
Consult on risks across the first line of defense business partners, providing advice and guidance as needed.
Develop and deliver senior‑level risk‑management reporting and communications.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve strategic objectives.
Continuously seek ways to improve and innovate in our approach to risk management.
Establish and maintain relationships with Enterprise Services process owners, process managers and vertical risk managers.
Inspire, include and empower team members to perform at their best.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification.
At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Process Management, Project Management, or a combination of these.
At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering with, and interacting with internal and external business clients.
At least 5 years of experience working with cross‑functional teams.
At least 5 years of experience in Technology, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a combination of these.
At least 5 years of experience managing audits and regulatory engagements.
At least 5 years of People Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience.
Risk Certifications (CRISC, CISM, CRCM, CIPP, ABA Risk Mgmt Certification).
At least 6 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal stakeholders.
At least 6 years of Financial Services industry experience.
At least 3 years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership audiences.
At least 3 years of experience planning and leading technology risk assessments.
At least 2 years of experience working on Generative AI initiatives.
