We are looking for a physician with senior‑level health plan experience to join MedStar Family Choice, our Medicaid Managed Care Organization, as the Health Plan Senior Medical Director in the Baltimore, MD region.

Key Position Details

Hybrid work position: three days onsite at our Maryland office and three days remotely.

Salary range: $275,000 – $300,000 per year.

Senior leadership role within the Maryland plan, serving as a key thought partner and advisor to the Executive Director on clinical matters.

Clinical oversight of the Medical Directors for Maryland.

Leadership of the health plan’s clinical operations with a primary focus on developing clinical strategy and execution to drive clinical outcomes.

Execution of innovative Managed Care disciplines to ensure optimal total cost of care management.

Strategic development of value‑based contracting and other medical expense approaches.

Maintenance of collaborative relationships with Maryland agencies, MedStar Health system leaders, academic physicians, hospitals, community physicians, and related networks.

Enhanced visibility of MedStar Family Choice in the community and healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key thought partner and advisor to the Executive Director on clinical matters.

Lead the health plan’s clinical operations and develop clinical strategy to drive outcomes.

Oversee clinical operations of the Maryland plan’s Medical Directors.

Develop and manage innovative Managed Care disciplines to optimize cost of care.

Collaborate on strategic medical expense approaches, including value‑based contracting.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with state agencies, MedStar Health leaders, academic physicians, hospitals, community physicians, and related networks.

Represent MedStar Family Choice in the community and across the healthcare industry.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.

Prior experience in a health plan or Medicaid managed‑care environment.

Supervisory and leadership experience.

Experience with provider contracting models and incentive plans.

Knowledge of NCQA certification, HEDIS reporting, quality management, and audits.

Experience with government agencies, population health, disease management, data analysis, and interpretation.

Familiarity with government‑sponsored programs and recipients.
