Senior Project Manager – Public Works / K-12 Construction

About the Company Our client is a well-established and reputable General Contractor specializing in public works and K‑12 educational facility construction across Northern California. The team is committed to delivering high‑quality, community‑focused projects through integrity, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex projects, mentor project teams, and serve as a key client‑facing representative in the Sacramento region.
Position Overview The Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) will oversee all phases of construction projects—primarily K‑12 and public works—from preconstruction through closeout. This role requires a strategic leader with strong communication skills, technical construction knowledge, and proven success managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships. The Sr. PM will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.
Manage project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions when needed.
Serve as primary point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract negotiations, and performance management.
Coordinate with field teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
Prepare and lead OAC meetings, progress reports, and presentations.
Provide mentorship to Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, and other team members.
Drive continuous improvement in project delivery, systems, and internal processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years
of construction project management experience, including
K‑12, DSA, or public works projects .
Strong understanding of DSA processes, codes, and inspections.
Demonstrated success managing projects $10M–$50M+.
Proficiency with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, P6/MS Project, etc.).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
